Leading others towards transformation through Jesus

Thank you for leading a Group!

Groups are essential in the life of the church, and they wouldn’t be possible without leaders like you! Thank you for your commitment to growing as a follower of Jesus and to the vision of biblical community here at Cross Point. As a Group Leader, you are in a position of influence in the spiritual lives of others and that’s a responsibility, but also a privilege. One that comes with great joy and a front-row seat to helping others grow in Christ-likeness.

We recognize that high calling, and we want to do our best to equip you as a leader to help others find and follow Jesus.

Connection → Community → Growth → Maturity

We desire that every Group is on a trajectory towards helping their members become mature in Christ. “Find” groups are designed to move people from “connection” to “community”, while “Follow” groups should have an established sense of connection and community and are designed to move people from “growth” to “maturity.”

Below you’ll find resources that will help you as a Group Leader.

Whether you’re leading a Find or Follow Group, you have access to Group resources, Gospel tools and personal development materials to help you in your journey towards Christ-likeness.

If you have any questions about how to use these resources, or what your Group needs, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local Campus Group Director!

FIND GROUPS

Resources designed for connection and community:

  • How to start a find group – Learn the basics of a Find Group and how to get started as a Group leader.
  • Weekly Message Discussion Guides – These questions allow your group to reflect and deepen discussion about topics discussed in Sunday’s sermon and continue the conversation throughout the week.
  • Practicing the Presence of God – Everything in life is an opportunity to connect with God. As a “Find” group leader, investing in your personal intimacy with God is the best gift you can give your Group.
  • Enjoy Your Prayer Life– Prayer is meant to be joy-filled time of connection with God, opening your eyes to see God’s heart.
  • Oikos Map Tool – Part of your role as a Find Group leader is to pray on behalf of people in your Group who haven’t made a decision to follow Jesus, as you also show them the love of Jesus through your actions. The Oikos Map training walks you through a practical tool that teaches you how to pray for people who are close to you but far from God. Access PDF Content.
  • Questions in a Box App – At the heart of every Find Group is connection. Good questions lead to strong connections which leads to community. The Questions In A Box App is a resource to help you to learn to ask good questions based on the level of trust and relationship within the group.
  • 6 Words Tool – Your personal story of how Jesus has transformed your life is the most powerful tool you have when sharing about Jesus with others. The Six Word Story tool will teach you how to share your story with your group with confidence. Scripture tells us that “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death” Revelation 12:11. FOLLOW GROUPS

    Resources for growth and maturity

Weekly Message Discussion Guides – These questions allow your group to reflect and deepen discussion about topics discussed in Sunday’s sermon and continue the conversation throughout the week.

Roadmap for Follow Group Leadership: Rooted – Rooted is a 10-week curriculum that we encourage every Follow Group to begin with in order to learn and put into practice seven rhythms of discipleship to Jesus and ultimately begin to live out the type of community described in Acts 2:42 which says “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

    Devoted to the Word:

    PROMWAS Bible Study method.

    • Pray – Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you through the text you’re about to read.
    • Read – Read God’s word.
    • Observe – Ask, “what is happening in this text?” “who is the intended audience?” “What is the author trying to convey?”
    • Meditate – Spend time re-reading and reflecting on the text.
    • Write – Write down what you’ve observed and meditated on.
    • Apply – Ask, “as a follower of Jesus today, what does this mean for me?”
    • Share – Share what you meditated on and how it applied to your life.
    • Other resources to help you through PROMAS:

    Devoted to Prayer:

      • Prayer should become part of your regular meeting time, although it does not have to look the same every week.
      • Encourage praying for one another and carrying each other’s burdens through prayer.
      • Encourage shared participation. As the group grows to maturity, everyone should also be growing in prayer.

    Devoted to Breaking of Bread:

    • Practice taking communion together as a group as you grow in confession and repentance.
    • Guide on how to take communion as a group.

    Devoted to Fellowship:

    • As a group, identify a group of people or a Local partner that you want to actively support as you live on mission together.
    • Local Good Partners

Identify and develop leaders within your group

    • Disciples make disciples. As a group leader part of your job is to identify people in your group that are growing into maturity and are ready to start a group of their own.
