SERVE THE CITY
Join us on Saturday, September 25 as we love our neighbors throughout Middle Tennessee.
SERVE THE CITY DEVOTIONAL
DAY 1 - SEPTEMBER 23
At Cross Point, our mission is to help people find and follow Jesus. On Serve the City, we follow Jesus which helps the people we are serving find him.
Jesus says in Mark 12:31 – “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
The word love in this verse is the Greek word “agape” which signifies more than love as a feeling but love as doing things for the benefit of another person and the willingness to seek the best for another.
On Saturday, we get to follow Jesus by doing things for the benefit of our neighbors and seeking the best for them.
Let’s pray and ask God in what specific ways we can follow him on Saturday:
– Whom do you want me to meet?
– Whom would you have me talk to God?
– What do you want me to do?
DAY 2 - SEPTEMBER 24
As we follow Jesus, it helps those around us find Him.
In John 13:35, Jesus says, “By this, the world will know that you are my disciples, by how you love one another.”
Loving our neighbors shows them and others the love of Jesus.
(By the way, the word love in that verse is also the Greek word agape.)
On Saturday, we are taking the hope of Jesus and the heart of Cross Point beyond the walls of our buildings and out into Middle TN.
Let’s ask God today:
-Will you help me love others well on Saturday?
DAY 3 - SEPTEMBER 25
Today is Serve the City.
What if we viewed today as a starting line? A starting line toward a life of continued serving. Of continuing to follow Jesus so that others might find Him.
That can look many ways – it can look like continuing to serve with the organization/community you’ll be with today, finding another one of our partners to serve with, or seeing another need near you and meeting it.
Hebrews 12:1b-2a says, “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Let’s ask God how today can be the starting line of our race toward following him through serving.
-God will you show me what you want my next steps to be after today?
See what God can do through your serving.
WHAT IS LOCAL GOOD?
Through Local Good, we aim to bring the hope of Jesus and the heart of Cross Point beyond the walls of our buildings. Serving opportunities throughout the year give us the opportunity to truly BE the church to our neighbors. Through serving opportunities during the year, we see lives changed—people brought together as we take the hope of Jesus and the heart of Cross Point beyond the walls of our buildings. Get started by taking a look around and begin serving to impact your community for good.
We want to stretch the love of Jesus from inside our buildings to organizations throughout Middle Tennessee. Click our partners below to find out more information about these organizations.
