Beauty Amongst Poverty
It’s not always the easiest to see,
But when you look, it becomes clear
That beauty lives amongst dirty air.
There’s faces that smile,
Some young and some old,
Both without teeth,
Yet strong and bold.
The littles come running and reach for your hand
Those tiny fingers wrap yours
The connection is grand.
A new friend is made from the unlikeliest sort
And believe it, or not,
The walk feels short.
Up some steps too dark to see
Yet the little one guides me so fast and so free.
We enter the home where God’s peace is at rest,
And meet with a family whose joy does bless.
God, your wonders are grand and your mercies so kind,
Your everlasting love, the lowly does find.
To witness, you realize how blessed you be,
Beauty amongst poverty,
So special to see.
